With years of training as an athlete and now as a professional coach, our belief is that gym programs should be performed at an incredibly high intensity in addition to our overall sports specific programs. A gym program balance is just as important as your sports specific program balance and below are what I get all my athletes and clients to do.

  

How it works

  1. Pick one Total Body program (recommend you do on a Monday and Friday, program permitting)  
  2. Pick one endurance program (recommend you do on a Wednesday, program permitting)

  

Strength / Endurance Programs

(Programs include 6-8 exercises, abs and interval training)

  

Total Body One (4-6 weeks)

It might not look that hard on paper but these simple exercises will have you feeling and looking your best in a matter of weeks. Designed to activate every muscle in your body, the inclusion of several leg and core exercises will have you dropping weight and tightening your tummy muscles. Finishing each session with an intense interval exercise will  greatly speed up your metabolism.

Total Body Two (4-6 weeks)

This program is a follow on from Total Body One. Similar set out but improved and harder exercises to take you to the next level. If you are a paddler, you will be amazed with how strong and fast you will now be paddling.

Endurance Programs

  

Endurance Test

This 20mins endurance test will put you through your paces and show you just how fit your currently are. This program is great because you see results every time it is performed. By doing a set number of exercises and reps the fitter you become the more of the circuit you get through. Power to Weight - 100's

Power to weight is the most important physical attribute an athlete can have. The ability to use every ounce of your body will only make you faster. This 100 rep circuit is a combination of core, speed and endurance work will have to asking for more.  Target time under 2 minutes

Power to Weight - 200's

Power to weight is the most important physical attribute an athlete can have. The ability to use every ounce of your body will only make you faster. This 200 rep circuit is a combination of core, speed and endurance work will have to asking for more. Target time 4 minutes

Push / Pulls

A two exercise circuit that is designed to push you to your limit. Repeated 20 reps, this program is specific to ski and kayak paddlers but can be introduced into other sports as a speed / endurance exercise. The aim of the program is to continue the circuit for the same length of time it takes you to race in your event (e.g. K1 500m - 1minute 40 seconds).

Specific Abdominal Exercises

  

Core

This is the one area that a lot of athletes still neglect . Your core muscles are not only important in all sports but in your day to day lives. Your ability to walk, run, stand, sit and even roll over in bed are all activated by the core muscles in your body.  A mixture of simple and complex exercises will either greatly improve your posture or go faster in your chosen sport.
