Open, Masters, U/19's & OC1's
The Wave Break Island Classic will be the first Tier One paddling event held on the Gold Coast. This will be a 12km paddle around one of the Gold Coast's famous land marks - Wave Break Island. The start and finish will be at the top end of The Spit along Seaworld Drive.
Tier System:
- Tier One - Smooth Water (Internal waterways, lakes etc)
- Tier Two - Partially Smooth Open Water (More open waterways)
- Tier Three - Open Water (open water but within 3.7kms offshore)
Registration: start at 7am and close at 8am
Compulsory Safety Equipment:
- PFD - must be worn at all times during the race.
- Leash - either a paddle or calf leash must be worn at all times
- Mobile Phone - a phone will need to be carried by all paddlers during the race
Paddlers will not be allowed to start the race if they do not have all the listed safety gear above. If you do not have any safety gear, all compulsory safety gear can be purchased from the Paddle 2 Fitness Shop - click here
A limited number of compulsory safety gear can also be purchased @ registration before race start.
NOTE: Racing shirts and Finishing medals were ordered on the 30th August 2010. Any race entries after this date will not be guaranteed a racing shirt at registration. If you do not receive a racing shirt or a finishing medal we will endeavor to send one or both out to you after the event. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Course: Due to safety reasons, Marine Safety Queensland has asked that we have two courses. A decision will be made on race day.
A - One full lap of Wave Break Island (preferred) - map
B - Paddle south around Paradise Island and return - map
Categories: Open Male Ski, Open Female Ski, Over 40 yrs Male Ski, Over 30 yrs Female Ski, U/19 Male & Female and OC1 Male & Female
Each Paddler will receive:
1. Water bottle
2. Finishing shirt
3. Participation medal
